Health & Well-Being Coaching empowers clients to make lasting behavior changes that are the foundation for a lifetime of health and well-being. Health is impacted by multiple interconnected dimensions. These dimensions include the choices that affect one's physical, mental, and spiritual well-being, as well as medical care approaches. A qualified Health & Well-Being Coach supports their clients in discovering ways to successfully incorporate healthy lifestyle behaviors across these various dimensions into their unique lives.
Health & Well-being Coaching can help you improve your self-awareness, develop new skills, create a plan for achieving goals, and overcome obstacles that may be holding you back from success.
Health & Well-Being Coaching sessions can vary in length, but typically last between 30 minutes to an hour. The frequency of sessions can also vary depending on your needs. This is client driven and progress oriented. When you feel you have accomplished your goals, our sessions will end. It is customary for this process to take 3-4 months.
The National Board of Certified Health & Wellness Coaching (NBHWC) has issued an update on utilizing Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) towards health coaching. Though it’s not explicitly included in the current IRS guidelines, they’ve shared with the NBHWC that “out-of-pocket costs of health and wellness coaching services can be a ‘qualified medical expense’ if the services are provided for the treatment or prevention of a disease.” I urge you to contact your plan administrator for a final determination.
